Less Admin Time

Rwanda's education sector was rapidly modernizing, but most schools still relied on paper-based record keeping — handwritten gradebooks, manual attendance, and physical report cards. Teachers spent hours on administration instead of teaching. Parents had little visibility into their children's progress.

Working closely with local education partners who brought deep understanding of the Rwandan school system, we designed an offline-first LMS. Our 10+ years of experience building technology for African markets meant we understood the infrastructure realities — intermittent power, low-bandwidth connections, and shared devices.

  • Conducted field research across 15 schools
  • Designed offline-first architecture that syncs when connectivity returns
  • Built mobile-responsive interfaces optimized for low-cost Android devices
  • Partnered with local IT providers for deployment and training
  • Trained 200+ teachers through hands-on workshops

The platform handles course management, digital attendance, automated grade calculations, and parent-facing progress reports. Teachers enter grades on phones or tablets; parents receive SMS updates. School administrators get dashboards showing attendance trends, grade distributions, and resource utilization.

Within the first academic year, 12,000+ students were onboarded across three provinces. Administrative time for teachers dropped by an estimated 60%. Parent engagement increased significantly with SMS-based report cards reaching families who had never received written feedback. The platform is being evaluated for national expansion.
